Labia’s come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. Their appearance can change naturally as women age, experience extreme weight loss, or go through childbirth.
Labia diversity is normal, but some women may experience pain, discomfort, reduced sensitivity, low self-esteem, or embarrassment from certain anatomical conditions. While it might be uncomfortable or embarrassing to talk about, there is nothing to be self-conscious about if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.
Many women in New York City are seeking out labiaplasty to improve their sexual health and self-confidence in clothing and in the bedroom.
At Great City Medical, our skilled, board-certified gynecologists are here to help you look and feel your best. We provide personal labiaplasty consultations and provide the best labiaplasty procedures in NYC.
Labiaplasty surgery, also known as vaginal rejuvenation surgery, vaginoplasty, or “mommy makeover”, is a cosmetic surgical procedure performed by a board-certified gynecologist or plastic surgeon to alter the appearance of the labia minora (inner labia) and labia majora through precise incisions. Labiaplasty is a cosmetic surgery that addresses aesthetic concerns regarding the vaginal area. Two popular surgical techniques are the edge and the wedge technique.
While anyone with a vagina who has gone through puberty might be eligible for labiaplasty, it is an especially popular procedure for women who have undergone damage from childbirth or are experiencing natural but negative side effects of aging.
Our Great City Medical board-certified gynecologist performs labiaplasty procedures in NYC at our AAAASF approved outpatient facility. Labiaplasty is a minor surgical procedure, and all procedures are performed under general anesthesia (sedation).
If you have experienced pain, discomfort, reduced sexual pleasure, or feel insecure about the way your genitalia looks or feels, you may be a good candidate for labiaplasty.
Common conditions that many labiaplasty patients are looking to have remedied include a large labia or enlarged labia (also known as labial hypertrophy), asymmetry of the labia, excess labial tissue, physical discomfort or reduced sensitivity during sexual intercourse caused by the anatomy of the vulva, clitoris, and discomfort or embarrassment while wearing swimsuits or tight clothing. All these conditions can be remedied with labiaplasty.
With Great City Medical, your doctor will provide an initial consultation, discuss your goals, and review your medical history to determine if you are in good health and might be a good candidate for labiaplasty surgery. Anyone with a vagina who has finished going through puberty might be eligible to receive labiaplasty surgery.
Vaginal rejuvenation procedures can include removing excess tissue around the edge of the labia, reshaping of the vaginal lips, reducing the size of the outer labia, treating excess skin, performing a clitoral hood reduction, and other plastic surgery procedures. These procedures can provide many personal benefits and improve women’s sexual health.
Many labiaplasty patients benefit from enhanced enjoyment of sexual activity, improved genital health, increased comfort, and a major self-confidence boost in the bedroom.
At Great City Medical, we offer competitive pricing for our labiaplasty services. The total cost of our services includes the cost of the procedure itself, as well as the cost of anesthesia, use of the operating room facilities, and other related expenses. Call us today to learn more about pricing.
Labiaplasty is a relatively minor, minimally invasive outpatient procedure. The procedure itself may take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours, and patients are able to go home shortly after their procedure. All labiaplasty procedures are performed under general anesthesia and patients will not feel the procedure itself.
Since it is a surgical procedure, patients must allow for some recovery time after labiaplasty. After surgery at our NYC labiaplasty facility, you can expect to allow 1–2 weeks for recovery downtime. You may wish to take 3–7 days off of work to stay off your feet and recover.
Labiaplasty patients may experience some discomfort for a few days after surgery. Some swelling and bruising around the operation site are common. Your doctor may prescribe pain medication to help manage any pain or swelling.
It is recommended that patients get plenty of rest and avoid any strenuous physical activity for several days after a procedure. Most swelling will disappear within 6 weeks of surgery, but some patients may experience some residual swelling that can take up to 6 months to completely disappear.
Patients should not use tampons or have sexual intercourse of any kind for 4–6 weeks following their surgery, or until cleared by their doctor.
It is recommended that patients schedule follow-up appointments with their doctor following the surgery to ensure that everything heals well and that the desired results are achieved.
