¿Qué esperar durante el examen de la tarjeta verde?

Cuando presente su Formulario I-485 de Ajuste de Estatus, deberá presentar un examen médico (Formulario I-693). El examen físico para su tarjeta verde no es muy diferente de un examen médico convencional de su médico de cabecera, pero debe ser realizado por un médico autorizado por los Servicios de Ciudadanía e Inmigración de EE.UU. (USCIS), llamado cirujano civil. El examen durará un mínimo de dos visitas, con dos o tres días entre ellas para que el laboratorio realice e informe de los resultados de los análisis de sangre.

Visitas

Primera visita

Durante la primera visita a la consulta del cirujano civil, se le realizará un examen exhaustivo de los ojos, los oídos, la nariz, el aparato respiratorio, el sistema cardiovascular, las extremidades, la piel, el sistema linfático (ganglios linfáticos) y el aparato gastrointestinal. También se incluye la detección de enfermedades físicas o mentales o trastornos mentales que puedan conducir a un comportamiento nocivo o al abuso de sustancias/drogas.

Second Visit

Dos o tres días después de su primera visita estarán listos sus resultados de sangre, que se utilizarán para rellenar el formulario I-693. En el caso de que sus títulos sanguíneos sean bajos o algo sea anormal, le informaremos de lo que hay que hacer antes de su visita. En la mayoría de los casos su segundo día es una visita administrativa, que se utiliza para finalizar el papeleo.

¿Qué llevar al reconocimiento médico para la tarjeta verde?

Para su examen médico de inmigración debe traer

  • Identificación con fotografía (documento de identidad con fotografía expedido por el gobierno, como un pasaporte nacional válido o un permiso de conducir)
  • Cartilla de vacunación/expediente de vacunación (traducido al inglés)
  • Tasas requeridas para el examen y la atención médica necesaria
  • Una lista de medicamentos
  • Conocimiento de su historial médico y su historia clínica

Puede comer o beber antes del examen físico de la tarjeta verde.

Para su petición de Ajuste de Estatus al USCIS, el cirujano civil le entregará el Formulario I-693 completo en un sobre sellado con el sello oficial del médico, que deberá presentar junto con su petición de Ajuste de Estatus. El sobre debe permanecer cerrado.

También recibirá una copia del formulario para que se la lleve a su abogado de inmigración o para que la guarde en sus archivos personales. También recibirá copias de su informe de exámenes médicos y registros de vacunación.
